Apps by Vinod Gopaldasani:
Predicted Heat Strain App (PHS-App) for iPhone and Android
Thermalrisk for iOS and Android
ETE Version 2.0 for Windows and macOS
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains what information these apps handle and how. If you have questions, contact me at pvaustralia21@gmail.com.
None of the apps have accounts, and I do not collect, store or receive any of your personal information.
What you enter in the apps stays on your device and in the files you choose to save.
PHS-App and Thermalrisk show ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device information to show and measure those ads.
Thermalrisk can use your approximate location, if you allow it, to fetch local weather from WeatherAPI.com.
ETE Version 2.0 shows no ads and collects no data.
The apps calculate heat stress from details you enter, such as body mass, height, acclimatisation, climate conditions, metabolic rate, clothing and notes. This information is processed only on your device, is saved only where you choose (for example in a file, in the Files app or in a cloud folder you select), and is never sent to me by the apps.
PHS-App keeps your current, unsaved assessment on the device so that it isn’t lost when the app is closed. Deleting the app deletes this copy.
Location and weather. When you choose Use current location, Thermalrisk asks for permission to use your device’s approximate location. If you allow it, the app sends your latitude and longitude to WeatherAPI.com to retrieve the current weather for your area. I do not receive or store your location. WeatherAPI.com handles these requests under its own privacy policy: https://www.weatherapi.com/privacy.aspx. Location is used only when you ask for it, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your device’s settings.
Camera and photo library. Thermalrisk may ask for access to your camera and/or photo library, only so that you can save screenshots. The app does not process this data, and I have no access to it. Screenshots may contain location data; it is not shared unless you share the image yourself.
Statistics. I see only anonymous, combined statistics provided by Apple (App Store Connect), Google (Google Play Console) and Google AdMob, such as numbers of downloads, crashes and ad views. These do not identify you, and the apps contain no separate analytics software.
These apps are free and are supported by ads from Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To show ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud, Google’s software in the apps may collect:
your device’s IP address, which may be used to estimate its general location;
device identifiers, such as the advertising identifier (IDFA on iPhone and Mac, the Android advertising ID) and the app set ID;
information about your interactions with ads and the app (for example ad views and taps);
diagnostic and performance information (for example crash and app launch data).
This information is collected and used by Google under Google’s own policies. Google may associate it with your device's advertising identifier. I do not receive it, and the apps never ask for your name or contact details. See:
How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Your choices
Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland, and other places where it is required): PHS-App asks the first time you open it whether Google may use your data for personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time from the app’s menu under Privacy options.
iPhone and Mac: you can control whether apps may use your advertising identifier in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. If you don’t allow tracking, you still see ads, but they are not personalised using that identifier.
Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings, under Settings > Privacy > Ads or Settings > Google > Ads, depending on your device.
Whatever you choose, the apps work in the same way.
ETE Version 2.0 works entirely on your computer. It contains no ads or analytics and does not connect to the internet.
The apps are intended for professionals and students assessing working conditions, and are not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
I do not sell or rent your personal information, and I do not receive any. The third-party services named above (Google AdMob and WeatherAPI.com) receive the information described for the purposes described. Depending on where you live, use for advertising may count as “sharing”, and you can limit it using the choices above.
I keep no information about you, so there is nothing for me to delete. Your assessments and screenshots are deleted when you delete your saved files, photos or the app. For information held by the third-party services, see their privacy policies, which explain how to manage and delete it.
The apps give predictions from heat stress models, such as the ISO 7933:2023 Predicted Heat Strain model. They support, but do not replace, professional judgement, and they are not medical devices.
I may update this policy, for example when the apps change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
